    Why French

French is the smartest shortcut to Canadian PR

Canada has an official target for French-speaking immigration outside Quebec. That policy is your advantage — if you can prove NCLC 7.

    +50 CRS POINTS

Up to 50 bonus CRS points

French proficiency at NCLC 7 or above adds 25 CRS points, or 50 if your English is CLB 5+. For most profiles that is the difference between waiting and getting an invitation.

    GENERAL FRENCH

    French-category Express Entry draws

IRCC runs dedicated category-based draws for French-language proficiency, and their cut-off scores are usually far lower than general draws.

    More PNP & Francophone options

Several provincial and Francophone community streams actively prioritise French speakers, widening your options beyond Express Entry.

What French actually adds to your CRS score
NCLC 7 French · English below CLB 5+25
    NCLC 7 French · English CLB 5 or above+50

Additional points sit on top of your existing profile score — and French-category draws typically close well below general-draw cut-offs.

    What you get

A programme built around one number: NCLC 7

Everything in the course exists to move your four skills — listening, reading, speaking, writing — above the band you need.

    TEF / TCF-specific curriculum

Not a generic French class. Every unit is mapped to the task types, timing and scoring logic of the Canada exams.

    Daily speaking & writing correction

Section A and B speaking simulations and written tasks corrected individually — the two sections where Indian candidates lose the most points.

    Full mocks on PrepMyFuture

Prep My TEF and Prep My TCF modules give you real exam conditions, instant scoring and weak-area reports.

    7Speaking immersion

Authentic French news, videos and pronunciation drills so your ear is trained long before exam day.

    Exam booking guidance

Help choosing the right exam, the right centre and the right date so your result arrives when your profile needs it.

    Score-to-CRS clarity

We show you exactly how each band converts into CRS points, so you always know what your next 10 points cost.

    TEF or TCF?

Which Canada exam should you take?

Both are accepted by IRCC for Express Entry. The right choice depends on your comfort with the format and the test dates available to you.

    Side by side

TEF Canada vs TCF Canada — where they actually differ

Both are accepted by IRCC, both test the same four skills, and both stay valid for two years. What really separates them is how long each paper runs, how many questions you face, and the way your result is reported.

    TEF

    TEF Canada

Denser comprehension papers, two tasks per productive skill.

    • Listening60 questions · 40 min
    • Reading50 questions · 60 min
    • Writing2 tasks · 60 min
    • Speaking2 tasks · 15 min
    Approximate total sitting2 h 55 min
    VS
    TCF

    TCF Canada

Shorter comprehension papers, the same work split into three tasks.

    • Listening39 questions · 35 min
    • Reading39 questions · 60 min
    • Writing3 tasks · 60 min
    • Speaking3 tasks · 12 min
    Approximate total sitting2 h 47 min

    How your result is reported

TEF returns a points score in each skill, which is then read against the NCLC bands. TCF reports comprehension on a numerical scale and gives speaking and writing a level. Either way, NCLC 7 is the number that moves your CRS.

    How many questions you face

TEF puts roughly 110 comprehension questions in front of you across listening and reading. TCF sits closer to 78. If you read quickly, TEF’s volume costs you little; if you second-guess yourself, TCF is kinder.

    How the tasks are split

TEF asks for 2 written pieces and 2 speaking tasks. TCF divides the same skills into 3 shorter tasks each, so no single answer carries all of the weight for that skill.

Take TEF if you are comfortable with long reading passages and would rather develop two substantial pieces than juggle three short ones.

Take TCF if you want a shorter comprehension paper and prefer spreading the risk across three smaller tasks per skill.

Paper structures and NCLC score bands are set by the exam boards and IRCC and are reviewed periodically. Confirm the current format and thresholds with your test centre before you book.

    FAQ

French for Canada PR — your questions

How long does it take to reach NCLC 7 from zero?

Most committed learners need 8–12 months of consistent study from absolute beginner, or 4–6 months if you already hold a solid A2/B1 level. Your exact timeline depends on class frequency and daily self-study, and we give you a written plan before you enrol.

Do I need French if my English is already strong?

You do not need it — but it is often the cheapest way to add points. Candidates with CLB 5+ English who reach NCLC 7 in French can gain 50 CRS points, and become eligible for French-category draws with much lower cut-offs.

Is TEF or TCF better for Express Entry?

IRCC accepts both. We recommend one based on your comfort with the question formats and the test dates available at your nearest centre.

Do you also file my PR application?

Our expertise is language and exam performance. We prepare you to score, explain how your score maps to CRS and Francophone streams, and are happy to coordinate with your licensed immigration representative.

    Are the classes online?

Yes — live online batches for students anywhere, and small offline batches at our Delhi centre. Both include the same trainers, mocks and platform access.

What if I miss my target score?

You continue with focused revision on your weak sections. Because batches are capped at 8 students, your trainer can rebuild the plan around the exact section that cost you points.
