Japanese numbers are very logical. For 11 to 19, you simply say: 10 + number.

How to Make Numbers Like 21, 35, 48

To form numbers between 20 and 99, use this pattern:

Tens + Ones
Example: 21 = 20 + 1 = 二十一 = Ni juu ichi
  • 21 = 二十一 = Ni juu ichi
  • 35 = 三十五 = San juu go
  • 48 = 四十八 = Yon juu hachi
  • 62 = 六十二 = Roku juu ni
  • 99 = 九十九 = Kyuu juu kyuu

Useful Japanese Number Sentences

  • 私は一人です。= Watashi wa hitori desu. = I am one person.
  • りんごを三つください。= Ringo o mittsu kudasai. = Please give me three apples.
